African American Christmas Ornaments

If you are like me you dread being dragged to the Hallmark store to pick out new Christmas ornaments. You probably also get dissapointed that they are not too many ornaments or figurines that represent African Americans. It's very frustrating to me because my grandma loves the figurines especially angels. Well born out of my own frustration I have found 12 great ornaments on the web and put some of them all in one place. Check them out:

Funny that I stumbled upon this. I just went shopping with my 22yo daughter last night to Michael's in Cheyenne,WY, picking up Xmas ornaments.

It struck me as disgusting when I saw this huge row of Xmas tree-topper angels... and not a minority face amongst them. My biracial (Black/Hispanic) daughter seemed taken aback for a second when I mentioned it, but then acted like (and said) that she didn't really see the problem... Its as if her membership in the Tea Party dictates to her that she forego being ignored and just embrace the "majority thinking". I still can't figure out where I went wrong with her.

But back to Cheyenne, WY's Michael's... yep, not one alternate skin tone in any of their decor, including the angels. I won't be spending my money there until I see myself represented.
