Having had the oppurtunity to speak to Timothy F. Johnson the chairman of the Frederick Douglass Foundation before this does not surprise me at all. He is a man of honor and principle even if he is a conservative. LOL. It's nice to see conservatives speaking out against racism and not trying to sweep it under the rug or tell us we are all crazy. Frederick Douglass Foundation Chairman Denounces the Caricature Depicting the POTUS and His Parents as Chimps
WASHINGTON, DC. Frederick Douglass Foundation National Chairman and Vice Chairman of the North Carolina Republican Party, Timothy F. Johnson, stated on Tuesday, "it is never appropriate to betray the POTUS as an animal and denounced the actions of Ms. Marilyn Davenport. "
"I am sure we are more in agreement than disagreement with Ms. Davenport on a number of issues to include President Obama's recent handling of the: 1) current gas situation, 2) conflict in Libya, and 3) budget negotiations. However, by the same token, we cannot stand by and idly watch as the President Obama is depicted in an email or comic strip as a Chimp, Monkey or Ape. Furthermore, we believe actions like these only give more fuel to the liberal's fire that we are working hard to extinguish," Johnson said.
Johnson further stated "We also want to commend Orange County's GOP Chairman, Scott Baugh, for his willingness to address this issue, immediately. Regardless of how the liberal media and the race baiting individuals try to twist this incident, it is an isolated incident and does not represent the Tea Party movement or the thousands of people who are commitment to improving the lives of all Americans through limited government and re-commitment to the US Constitution."
