I'm pretty sure the GOP just wants April to end and for Donald Trump to say something else stupid. Why? So that they can take the spotlight of racist emails and comments made by Republicans at the state and local level.Oklahoma state Rep. Sally Kern, a Republican made some just plain stupid comeents when talking about a measure seeking to ban affirmative action programs advancing in the state.
Rep. Kern said:
Rep. Sally Kern, R-Oklahoma City, said minorities earn less than white people because they don’t work as hard and have less initiative.
“We have a high percentage of blacks in prison, and that’s tragic, but are they in prison just because they are black or because they don’t want to study as hard in school? I’ve taught school, and I saw a lot of people of color who didn’t study hard because they said the government would take care of them.

Please don't get me wrong, I am absolutely NOT suggesting that Blacks (individually and collectively) do not need to take responsibility for their actions and the paths of their lives--they do! However, I'm simply stating that societal and institutional discrimination still exists and that the simplistic solution of "Blacks working harder" will not eliminate this problem.
I can point to example after example of Black celebrities, politicians (including Obama), and lay citizens being judged more harshly than their White counterparts (a simple Google search should provide you with several examples of this).
I am suggesting that the solution is twofold: Blacks (individually and collectively) need to do everything in their power to be the best they can be in all areas of life AND discriminations within society and institutions need to be continuously, aggressively eroded.
