Charles Rangel defends Anthony Weiner

[ SOURCE ] Congressman Charles Rangel, who has had his own ethics problems, defended Weiner asking why should he resign?

Rangel said Weiner can still be an effective lawmaker.

"Only if the press gets off his back. Of course he can be effective. He's smart," Rangel said.

In classic Rangel fashion he went on, making reference to everything from Senator Vitter's prostitution controversy to Senator Craig's airport bathroom scandal.

Rangel said Weiner's done none of that.

"I know one thing - he wasn't going with prostitutes. He wasn't going out with little boys. He wasn't going into men's rooms with broad stances. I mean all of those things I understand. I'm 80 years old," Rangel said.

Rangel's the only major New York Democrat to defend Rep. Weiner.

I agree, it's his personal business and it's not a reflection on his ability to do his job. One thing though, he should have known this would have come out. People love scandals such as this.
