Why Herman Cain's "Blacks are brainwashed" comments are disingenuous BS.

Let me start off by saying that I admire Herman Cain as a businessman and as a role model for all in the arena of business. With that being said recent comments by Herman Cain concerning African American voters have turned me off to him even more as a politician. And trust me I did not think that was possible.

In a recent CNN interview Mr. Cain said that, "'Many African Americans have been brainwashed into not being open minded not even considering a conservative point of view"

This is insulting to me as an African American in many ways.

Some say his comments are racist. I don't think they are but they are definitely stereotypical in a negative way. I know I'm splitting hairs there but I believe Mr. Cain's comments were more on the extremely ignorant side than on the racist side.

It may not have been his intent but he made it seem as if black voters are simple minded and easily manipulated by liberals.

It also makes the ridiculous assumption that many blacks have never been exposed to conservative views. It even ignores the possibility that some may have gave conservatism a look or even been republicans at one point and decided it wasn't for them.

Mr. Cain also upset me because when making his statements because he ignored things I know he knows but that he knows he mostly white conservative audience doesn't.

As a black man who lived through the Civil Rights Movement he knows very well why African Americans block vote.  Well at least he should know.

As a black man he knows that many African Americans especially those that actually vote HAVE CONSERVATIVE VIEWS on many issues. He knows that on many issues such as gun control, gay rights, and religion black voters beliefs mirror those of conservatives. He knows that the failure here is on conservatives for not capitalizing on that fact.  Well at least he should know.

He also knows that when African Americans hear the words smaller government a good portion don't think lower taxes they think about loosing their jobs. Many middle class blacks reached that level through government jobs at the local, county, state, and federal level.  We have already seen many African American government workers at the municipal level loose their jobs because of budget cuts.

Why would they want to vote republican knowing it could very well cost them their jobs? Mr. Cain knows this. Well at least he should know.

Mr. Cain if you keep this up I don't see how you get more than 2% of the black vote let alone 1/3. I think if you want and your conservative cohorts want black support you have to first start of by being intellectually honest.

Believe it or not black voters are very smart and know when someone is lying to them and about them. Mr. Cain should know that.

Well at least he should.

I disagree with Mr.Cain..I do not see myself as a brainwashed black man so I take that comment as FALSE as far as I feel. I can only speak for myself and felt that I have done my homework since 1974. No party has the answers for us all, however, I can not and will not support a party that has the mean spirit nature of a Rush Limbaugh, Michael Savage, Newt Ginrich, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity etc...I have tried and listen to these guys and I can't condone the rhetoric that come out of their mouths. That's their opinion and I disagree with about 90% on what they advocate. Other local conservatives in this area are no better and I can only listen for a few minutes and I have to switch because it makes me so angry...I can go on but I will comment more later.

Cain reminds me of Malcolm X who told a Black audience the following "You put the Democrats first and the Democrats put you last."

It's the 21st century and Malcolm's word ring more true than ever.
