How gay activist hurt their cause with African Americans in the Roland Martin situation

Gay activist got their wish and CNN suspended for his just plain stupid tweets during Superbowl 46 ( Which my NY Giants won ). Many gay activist are pleased with CNN's actions in this matter. While they are happy many African Americans are not.

Now I am not gay so I can't say whether Martin's remarks were offensive to gay people or not but I know what he meant and I don't believe his tweets were anti gay in the least.

I will also bet you that many gay African Americans had no problem with what Martin said because they knew where he was coming from

I am not defending Martin. His tweets were childish and better said among his friends who understand his sense of humor. But I believe gay activist dropped the ball here and have greatly hurt the already fragile relationship between the Gay and African American Community.

Many who didn't believe that gay rights fell under the civil rights banner will use this over reaction to Martin's tweets as a rallying cry in their fight against gay rights. Martin will become a martyr in their eyes and you geniuses made him into that martyr over some stupid tweets.

What should have happened was that meetings were arranged between gay activist and Martin to discuss the issue on CNN thus enlightening us all. Hey it could have been used as a starting point to begin a real dialogue between blacks and gays. But of course since that actually makes sense it did not happen

Way to go guys you just helped galvanize a community and a black church that already had a strong belief against gay rights. Nothing Martin said would have incited anyone to beat someone up because they were gay. But the over reaction to his tweets will definitely beat up the relationship between gays and blacks.

CNN you are wrong, and GLADD you hurt yourself in the long run:
As for me being a man, and having Gay friends for most of my life, and supporting their rights, I just don't see the slur. They-my Gay friends have told me this was not Gay bashing, and quote-“Don’t know what the hell this origination is coming from trying to represent me.” I have been around homophobic men and have heard it all, and that was not a Gay bashing slur. That was, I don't want another man’s package in my face in the middle of watching the Superbowl or any other time, and making light of it knowing your partners would feel the same way. Also to say he should have kept his comments to his friends still says he did something wrong when he did not.
Quote from a Gay friend, “Hell, just because you’re Gay doesn’t mean you want someone’s package and butt in your face to sell underwear in the middle of watching a sporting event, but it oaky to give the middle finger.” Roland’s comments were taken out of context.
There is so much worse on TV there is even a commercial that depict two men realizing they are almost caught in a Gay like situation by accident, and saying oh no, and turning away from each other.
With Gay rights people wanting the support of the Black community for their civil rights they messed up and hurt a man who has stood up for all rights, but I doubt it now. He'll avoid going out of his way to help. CNN made fools out of themselves, they have been running scared of Fox news bashing them as being liberal biased, and losing to them in the ratings game Who was this group going to turn too what FOX? This is an overreach of reactions
And just like all Black people don’t want to be labeled as one mindset, and cause, so too do Gays, they all have an individual mindset as all of us do. Much like some so-called Black leaders have embarrassed themselves and Black people as a whole as if they are speaking for all of us, we say there not speaking for me!
GLAAD has hurt many of their own and have set Black and Gay relations back, and it was already shaky ground, because many Blacks have not been progressive or did not want to share the lights in civil rights for all, but I had seen some improvement, but what now.
I have noticed as of the last couple years being around Black hetero-men there was a lot less stuck in the mud thinking about the Gay community. It has come to light, we have Gay children and coming out of the closet relatives. GLAAD might want to rethink this just like Susan G. Komen made an about-face turnaround.
